Consultation on Transaction Settlement and Invoice Issuance Process for E-commerce Platforms
This article compiles a practical consultation on transaction settlement and invoice issuance for e-commerce platforms, covering the handling of platform commissions, payment gateway fees, seller proceeds, and shipping costs, and explores common questions about invoice issuance and accounting records.
Hello,
We plan to develop an online e-commerce platform for buyers and sellers to conduct transactions. The platform will charge a fixed percentage commission as a service fee for using the platform.
The payment gateway merchant will collect the payment from the buyer, which includes the seller's product cost, shipping fee, and platform commission. The payment gateway will deduct a processing fee when remitting the funds to us.
Take an example transaction: product cost is 30,000 yuan, shipping fee is 600 yuan, platform commission is 2,142 yuan, payment gateway processing fee is 655 yuan, totaling 33,397 yuan.
Regarding this process, we have the following questions:
- When a transaction is approved, how should we issue an invoice to the customer?
- Do we need to request an invoice from the seller in order to remit the product cost and shipping fee to them?
Additionally, we are confused about the related accounting entries and hope to receive professional guidance.
Thank you for your answers.
