Discussion on Internal Basic Training Plan for Corporate Accounting Department
An accounting department employee asks how to conduct basic accounting training for the team in a cost-effective manner, comparing the costs of external institutions (such as Surgent CPE) with internal teaching, and seeks other suggestions.
Hello,
I would like to arrange some training courses for my accounting department. Currently, only the CFO and I hold CPA certificates in the department, so we hope to provide basic accounting courses for the team. We do not intend to offer CPE credits, but rather to select some simple topics (such as new accounting standards updates (ASU), examples of good internal controls, and debit-credit accounting—introductory accounting knowledge) to train the team.
During my research, I found that many organizations quote exorbitant prices. For example,Surgent CPEoffers group training, but requires a $1,400 daily instructor fee (plus travel expenses). If we teach ourselves, the daily cost would be about $335, and we would also receive PowerPoint materials and participant manuals.
Does anyone have other cost-effective ways for us to conduct these basic courses for our accounting staff? Again, the courses should remain at an introductory level and be beneficial to the team.
Thank you!
