FP&A

Currently, I am conducting an FP&A tool selection study for a client in the telecommunications industry. The client plans to move away from Excel-based financial planning and analysis processes toward a more professional, scalable solution. Their scope includes monthly financial and management reporting (including consolidated statements), profit and loss analysis at the customer and product levels, ad-hoc analysis, and budgeting (including rolling forecasts).

Additionally, the client must meet U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements. We are assisting them in selecting an ERP system, and the FP&A solution will integrate with this ERP system, as well as with other business systems such as CRM, asset management, and usage monitoring.

Here, I sincerely invite peers who have recently evaluated the FP&A market (also known as CPM/BPM) to share their experiences, involving major software vendors such as Cognos, Hyperion/Essbase, SAP-BW/Business Objects, Adaptive Planning, LongView, and others.

Specific questions are as follows:

  • What are your views on the pros and cons of these products? Why?
  • Do you use the selected solution in a BI/DW environment?

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback.
