Cloud-Hosted QuickBooks Desktop: Practices and Recommendations for Canadian Accounting Firms
An IT technician is tasked with migrating QuickBooks Desktop data to the cloud for a Canadian accounting firm that serves over 100 companies, with existing on-premises server storage running out. The user has tried migrating old company files to SharePoint Online but hopes to find a more specialized hosting platform and asks about experiences with commercial hosting services under Intuit's hosting plan.
Hello everyone,
I have posted some questions here before and received a lot of helpful assistance. I am an IT professional, and my current task is to migrate an accounting firm's QuickBooks data to the cloud. The firm does not want to switch to QuickBooks Online (QBO), but instead wants to host their existing QuickBooks Desktop files in the cloud using QuickBooks hosting services. I have noticed many commercial hosting providers under Intuit's hosting program, but I would really like to hear some real-world feedback.
This accounting firm currently does bookkeeping for over 100 companies, and the main issue is insufficient storage space on their internal servers. I have already started migrating some of the older company files to SharePoint Online (which I have used before with good results), but I think a more reliable solution, such as using a professional hosting platform, might work better.
Other important information: We are located in Canada, and the firm also uses other software (such as Sage, etc.), and they would like these to be migrated to the cloud as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Diana Dixon
