Corporate Responsibility Magazine recently released its 2016 list of the "Top 10 Best Corporate Citizens in the United States." The list is based on the Russell 1000 Index and ranks the 1000 largest publicly traded companies among them.

This selection method raises several thought-provoking questions:

  • Is it fair to rank only the 1000 largest companies?
  • Does a company being listed, delisted, or removed from the list have a real impact on its customers?
  • How would you feel if the list selected the worst ten companies instead of the best ten?

These questions reflect different perspectives on corporate social responsibility evaluation systems and also highlight the potential limitations of such lists in guiding public perception.
